I can’t forget
My body won’t let me
The flinch when someone gets too close behind me in a line.
The sound of the doorknob rattling that turns out to be the wind.
Someone removing their glasses far too quickly
The way every fiber, every cell in my body tenses tells me I will never forget.
The only thing I’ve forgotten is trust
Trust in my judgment because I trusted them.
